To identify the roles of piRNAs and siRNAs in regulating gene expression in the germ cells of Caenorhabditis elegans, we subjected small RNAs and messenger RNAs (mRNAs) from the distal gonads of piRNA and siRNA mutants to high-throughput sequencing.
